Prep is the first year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. It is compulsory for Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Prep is a full-time program in primary schools and has a defined curriculum.
Every day counts in Prep
View information on Every day counts from the Education Queensland website to assist with understanding your responsibilities in relation to school attendance. Prep runs Monday to Friday, with the first bell of the day at 8:40am.
When does my child start Prep?
To determine when your child can commence their prep year, use the Kindy Age Calculator. This will tell you the age recommended for Kindy enrolment, the developmental year of informal early childhood learning prior to starting school (Prep). For more information on Kindy please visit the Queensland Government's Kindy website.
Prep Transition & Orientation
Our Prep Transition program starts at the beginning of Term 3 every year. This program educates children on classroom routines, early years literacy and numeracy and introduces them to our school environment. For more information on Prep Transition please contact the office.
Prep Orientation is the day where our enrolled students find out their teacher and classmates in preparation for their school start the following year. This one off orientation is typically held in the final two weeks of Term 4. For more information on Prep Orientation please contact the office.
